This is an element from Egypt used to adorn horses. The crescent shape in combination with the star and the three little hands add to the protection of the horse. The element would jingle when the horse moved, which made it a suitable decoration to keep evil at bay, impress the onlookers and sometimes even add to the magic of a dancing horse, according to Fahmy.
