  • I think the spelling is Multan not Mooltan and if you use that spelling  on the search site as a key word you can find lots of info about that specific type of enamelling -=- I think that Multan is an area in Pakistan. The back inscriptions are interesting, Pakistanis speak Urdu and write with a modified Arabic alphabet, I believe. I do not think is is particularly old, but others may have a different opinion. This style does not look particularly antique to me. There are lots of people interested in Multan enamelling on this site, so maybe you will get more help from them. The blue is a lovely color and lots of Multan work is done in blue, but usually a darker blue. This blue almost looks like the blue of Iranian paste beads -- and, who knows, Iran and Pakistan are not so far apart, so maybe there is a relationship between the two blues.

  • Abdolutely Patti, also, I believe that Mooltan is simply a variant of Multan, dating back to the ending era of the British Raj.  Multan is currently in Pakistan, but it was all the same back then.

  • I'd guess it was made in the early 1900's to 1940's.

  • This style is relatively modern -- the native style is a more solid bangle or a bangle with a pin opening. But this style may be appealing to many people , it is light and drapes the wrist. I think that older, more native jewelry is less interested in fitting the wearer than in representing a specific tradition, I may be wrong but I must note that the most uncomfortable jewelry is often the most native.

  • It reminds me of Frankie's bracelet posted earlier!
