DSC_0463 Rare pair of Libyan heavy ear rings

These types of ear rings were widely used in Libya. The decoration of this pair is diagnostic as it is not very common. From the Hall Mark 'Tripoli' they are quite old. See other photo for Hall Marks.I was lucky to get this pair which is lighter than a heavier one that was offered to me today. I chose this one for two reasons: firstly it is lighter therefore cheaper; secondly the other one has a decoration that I have already few years ago. These pieces do not last for long in shops.

    I almost bought a single one some weeks ago that was offered as a bracelet. But I thought too long...and then it was gone.

    Thank you Betty: I am pleased that you liked the pair. It was Petty that you did not get the piece you wanted some weeks ago. As I said these items do not last long with the dealers as they are getting less available, since they are being melted for raw silver on daily basis. I have to visit these dealers and request that they hold on things like these when they get them as scrap silver. Some do others don't.
