Libyan Headdress Ornament

This is another type of an old headdress worn in Jabal Nafusah by 'Berber'. It is called 'Bu Manfukh and Rbib'. The thick piece being hollow is called Bu' Manfukh' , while the slimsolid one on top is called 'Rbib'. Sometimes this itemis decorated by corals. This piece is in very good shape still with all its engravings . Quite heavy and as is the case with all Libyan silver it is in good quality silver '900'.

  • I'm  impressed Mustafa. As you say this one looks as if it is in very good shape. Are these easy to find at the moment?

  • Thank you Thelma for your interest. Yes the piece is still in perfect shape.  These items are rare . I had to look for one for sometime but, they appear from to time. So I should say if you keep you eye open you may run across one. Are you searching for one Thelma?

  • Thanks Mustafa. I find these head rings really interesting. Maybe one day, I will turn a new page and then I know where to come and ask for advice:)) I love the pieces you have shown and admire your knowledge of Libyan silver.

  • OK agreed Thelma. Pleas do ask me when you need anything from this end. I will be pleased to offer help as much as I can. Wishing you a good luck
