is there a difference in weight between real amber and faux one? Perhaps real amber is lighter?
Yes, real amber will be lighter. I often think that faux amber is much more characterful and interesting. And sometimes it`s more valuable, too. In this case it`s so good to think of something that`s become useless being repurposed to make something attractive that gives pleasure once more.
On the subject of imitation amber, does anyone know of any type of it which flouresces under black light?
