Bulgarian Bracelet, side view

This is an Ottoman bracelet from Bulgaria, with repousse, stampings, and applied chain. The overall type is common but this is a particularly bold and more ornate example. The bracelet is low silver, with hollow parts that have small stones inside. I will post a picture of what it looked like before I cleaned it.105 grams, exterior is 7.5cm x 6cm.

  • beautiful piece, combination of various techniques makes it very special. It is a real treasure Lynn

  • The nicest example of this type that I`ve ever seen, Lyn.

  • I am very impressed about the other photo (before cleaning - and after cleaning). It was worth it, it Looks so gorgeous now!

  • This is a nice example, indeed. Does it rattle?

  • Thank you Mustafa, Frankie, Eva, and Betty.  Yes it does softly rattle.  The inside is very smooth and worn.  The seller thought this was 19th century and I think he is probably right.

I really enjoy cleaning Ottoman pieces especially if they are lower silver.  The tarnish they develop is amazing and the cleaning to remove it is very gentle, so the before and after is like magic.

  • Dear Lynn: This is a very special cuff - Congratulations also for your cleaning efforts - it looks stunning! Peter

  • Thank you Peter.  I knew you would enjoy it.
