  • Palestine/Jordan erea, bedouin silver bracelet. I have pictures of a museum collection from that area with the same type of bracelets.

  • This bracelet was in Egypt at one point as these side panels, so common in Egyptian Bedouin bracelets, were soldered on at a later time.  The outside near the ends and the inside of the silver are cratered/ pock-marked from the heating of the piece.  I have a generic ethnic jewelry book that stated this exact style is Palestinian; I'm glad to know it is correct!

  • These bracelets come in pairs (I can show a picture on my photo's if you are interested) name: Saba Awaiyat from the Sinaï and Negev desert bedouins. The design of your bracelet is more schematic that mine. The middle figure is a symbol of a turtle (long life, water). The outside ends (Hillary comments on them) are always seen on all the bracelets of the "turtle type" and they often have a hallmark stamp from Egypt.

  • I would love to see your pair Harald.

  • I have posted a photo of a pair of these bracelets on "my photo's" for you.
