Birdies

A pair of lovely birds from the Caucasus, gilded silver filigree, red enamel or foil and turquoise, about 10 x 2.5 cm. There where sewn on a dress. Found in Georgia, but according to Raisa Ismailova they might also be from Dagestan or another country in the Caucasus region.

    Yes, there is some kind of pinkish-reddish foil underlying the filigree work. I think you have some belts decorated with a similar technique, Peter.
