This symbol is used to represent the bee and also the cockerel in Berber tattooing. These signify The bee. = constant endeavour The cockerel = constant vigilance.

  • One possible connection which interests me in respect of this possibility is the reference to the bee,......... winged, and flying creatures are often seen as free ( amazigh = free people ).
    Combine this with the hard working aspect of the bee symbolism, and this may be a connected to the symbol yazz .
    Just a theory!

  • Frankie posted an image here sometime ago of a very wonderful Berber necklace the pendants are animistic in form to my eye, maybe a moth or a bee... It was discussed at length some years ago, and we found links to the khamsa and the goddess form in references and attributions..I feel that the perceived solutions of those of us endeavouring to decipher these meanings can come to various conclusions, or indeed maybe the symbolism is mutable within a cultural concept....for me it is so important to speculate ( with cultural references ) as the the spectrum of possibilities, and in tie I believe we will see patterns emerge for our discussions.
