  • Great and nicely worn leathe, Peter.

  • Very impressive, Peter - I especially love the read leather! I can't remember having seem such complete and well-preserved pieces often. Can you wear them? Kind regards, Betty

  • Dear Jose and Betty; Many thanks for your comments. Well, I probably could have worn them when I was 18 years or so but unfortunately not anymore... the time took its toll! With kind regards. Peter

  • ... well, sadly this is the case with many ethnic belts.... And I suppose, if you could wear them, you might get some funny looks :) Kind regards, Betty

  • 2506047915?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024These could be women’s belts, part of an old traditional festive costume (1925-1950) from the Turkish Alevi villages in the northern part of the Burgas province (Bulgaria), among others Dobra Polyana village (named 'Orhan Selim' by the Turks).  I have a similar belt in my collection (picture added), which was purchased together with the whole costume, in Bursa (April 1990), shortly after northwestern Turkey had been flooded with Muslim refugees (Turks & Pomaks) from Bulgaria.

    Best greetings, JMC.

  • Dear Jean-Marie; Many thanks for posting the photo with this magnificent belt! I have a belt like this too but unfortunately with a different leather band. However, this particular belt is much wider than those posted by me. Mine are almost half the width of yours. Therefore, I agree with you that these are ladies belts. With many thanks and best wishes. Peter
