BELT - KURDISTAN-IRAQ

This belt is very special. Not only is it featuring a great filigree latch/hook but the silver is mounted on an extremely rare tinsel belt. The ending of the tinsel belt has Chinese knots on it, which is not unusual for this region (Silk Road). I have a similar pinkish/light greenish tinsel belt on my 200-years old Bulgarian mother of pearl/silver belt buckle. Very rare indeed.

  • Dear Ala'a; Many thanks for your message. I have a light green version of such a belt and posted it as well. My belts are around 100 years old. Such belts are very rare. There are so many individual pieces stitched onto such a belt, which makes them difficult to survive the wear and tear for a long period.
    With kind regards. Peter
