Bella set Morocco

These delicate, lightweight, intricate silver pieces were worn by Bella women in northern Nigeria on the Savannah of Africa. It's said they depict the life of the wearer. You can see a similar piece on page 189 of "Africa Adorned" by Angela Fisher. It hangs over a rectangle of leather (as seen in smaller piece) with straps atached to make a necklace.

  • delicious I love them too!!!
  • Beautiful!! I was in search of such a piece for long (on Ebay they always were just bought before I could get them...now I bought one from someone here, waiting it may arrive). Just beautiful pieces! Some Tuareg also wear this, I have seen some in exhibition on Tuareg jewellery, they called them "anchor motive pendants". Thanks for showing! It is a pleasure to see and learn.
