  • Thank you so much Sarah for your additional info. The bead is a 'mystery', so i also nowhere in books and sites can find something like this, but you never know......!
  • I think it is likely an old repair in silver

  • These beads were not a type which were signed and I have never seen one with a hallmark...

it is a nice example from the southern Sirouan region of Morocco

  • The wear on the bead is very beautiful.  Someone loved this bead.  I always like seeing repairs on old pieces, it means someone loved the object enough to have it repaired instead of sold or melted.

  • Looks like it has some remains of enamel. I love these old worn beads, a little like the one from Ait Ouaozgite the last time I was in Morocco, one of my favorite things. And yes, the other piece, attached to it looks Sirouan.

  • Thinks you're right, Sarah! I have looked at it again. In reality it's more subtile as here on the photo.
At first i had not even noticed i could see only after cleaning and also the remains of the enamal were more visible Patty. I totally agree with you Lynn that old worn jewellery tell a story and have charm! Thanks all!
