Late-Ottoman 'armudiye' pendant (=a pear-shaped gold or gilt silver medallion) for a baby's cradle, with an Arabic inscription ('Maşallah' = 'according to God's will' / Magnificent!). Late-Ottoman, ca. 1900. Such 'armudiye' is a 'nazarlık' (an amulet, used to ward off the evil eye), as is also the second pendant: a blue stone, set in silver. (Source: Dekorantik, Ankara).
