  • Hi Marie Ange. This looks to me like an old Turkish design ... particularly those tulip/lily like figures on the top. Maybe those copper fixtures for the hinges were added later.

  • Thanks Thelma, never came across such an item, it would be very large for a belt buckle I guess, about 10 cm.

  • Just a guess... could it originally have been something else ... for example, the top of some sort of head gear?
