Very nice bracelet!
very lovely
No mystery, Arie. I enjoyed negotiating with the lady at the online shop TribalMuse for it. So not a find in an exotic location for me at all (though I do have some that are). I was told that it was sourced on the Nepal/Tibet border by an elderly tibetan lady, now living in the USA, who escaped from Tibet during the so-called chinese "liberation". She has said that it is a tibetan antique. But I don`t know exactly how old it is. Certainly contemporary slightly similar ones do not have the same type of settings or the general look of quality and execution.
I believe the bracelet is still viewable with more photos in the Museum Quality section of TribalMuse.
I`ve just checked. It is in the SOLD section on page 3. There is also some information on the design.
Yes Arie, I agree some sellers think the skye is the limit......good for you to travel and find your treasures on location. Have a wonderful trip!
Arie, hope the trip proves profitable - in every way. I`d love to go again. Bring some lovely goodies back with you and show us the photos please.
I was (and still am) happy with the price I paid for the bracelet though the price for some of the later items on that site do seem high now. I know even other online sites where they are considerably less.
Don`t have room in a pocket for me to travel with you, do you?
That's a beautiful piece, Frankie.
I don't have he expertise to assess this really well, but I do like it. The price certainly does seem steep, though!!
I have just visited TribalMuse, and at that point remembered I had seen it in the past and was not impressed by some of the claims made for the authenticity of pieces claimed to be old that clearly weren't. There is currently a necklace with much the same design as this, and a high price, which to me looks very suspect. I must admit though that - despite my not knowing any piece like this - it is to my mind at the very least attractive and even COULD have age, though I distrust the amount and the evenness of the black in the recesses. It certainly is appealingly made, anyway.
But whatever the shortcomings of this may be, it does LOOK good, and its quality, too, FAR exceeds that of the other pieces you have posted.
