  • Hillary, you broke for sure in a museum some night. this is a beautiful piece. congratulations

  • Is this Algerian, Southwestern oases perhaps?  I really am not sure where this piece is from.

  • Hillary, they were worn in all sahara, made specialy in the saoura region until sud east marocco and bei the touareg in hoggar. touareg are still making them. this kind of bracelets is now reviving in saoura region and it is a musthave bei the bride in weddings.they prefere it gold platted. when the old was not expensive, they were making them in gold sometimes ( the gold platted is actualy the trend now, it makes an oppening for another metals and another tastes, not always nice :-) )

  • @Ait Ouakli, very interesting comment! Thank you.

  • It is very difficult to know form where exactely a know bracelet come from and as AIT said, they have a very widespread distribution.

The finest do come from south west Algeria, which is where the orignal model must have came from (the region around TAMENTIT was a very famous shelter for a very large jewish community who fled libyan coast during roman times)

The boldest are used among the moors or "maures" in western sahara , mauritania and, north west mali.

this one is a very good example of what might be a south moroccan bracelet
