  • Been told that its silver and early 20th century, it weighs 5.5 oz and is aprox 6" long, I don't know weather this should open
  • Dear David; A nice purchase indeed. This is from Yemen and yes, you can open it from one side. At the bottom it used to have dangles and the top loops were used to fasten it to a chain, belt, etc.. The tube should be large enough to accommodate Maria Theresa Thalers. By the way, this piece was most probably manufactured, using Maria Theresa Thalers, which was used as official currency by many Middle Eastern countries, some until the 1960s. Has it got a signature of the maker on top? With kind regards. Peter
  • Hi Peter,

I can't find a signature or any other markings, The end seems a little stuck and I don't want to force it, Is this quite valuable and would I be able to buy the dangles for the bottom loops as it would look great in my display unit,
    thanks dave
