    Could these agate or carnelian drops have been and later replacement of silver bells or pendants?

  • Hi Ayis, - I see no compelling reason why the pendants would be replacements, as the stones are clearly early and match the piece well. They form an arresting combination with it. However, the combination is not the most common one, so it would indeed be possible that there were other attachments initially.
