Absolutely, do not buy until you receive confirmation of authenticity and absolutely know the going rate per gram of fossil amber. This amber is very rare and hard to find right now and any investment in it needs to be completely verified.
Possibly cherry-colored bakelite? Also, the sheer size of the piece, length, etc. suggests not original as well. It looks as though it would hit a woman's knees.....
I enlarged the pic, and can confirm that this is fake Amber meade from plastic / resin it is from the souss region of southern Morocco
