These crowns were very popular amongst the ladies of Algers. Often worn with another tiara lower down. This one is a fairly humble one and is made of a low metal, but others were of silver or silver gilt. And perhaps even gold for the ones who could afford it.

  • Nice! Although the Tunisian equivalents are of a slightly different model, these Algerian ones also migrate across the border and Tunisian ladies are happy to wear them. I have found that the Tunisian ones are typically also of a low grade silver alloy or base metal. I love the half moon on top of each panel.
