  • I love this headdress, and can see similarities in form with the piece from the nearby Siroua Mountains which was recently discussed here

here is the link...I wish it were possible to see the upper part of the headdress in this pic too!

  • Yess Sarah, you are right, though the ones worn in the Ouarzazate area and the draa valley ( and the closer oases as well) were of a lesser quality , notably niello and enamel, these region being in the periphery of the Sirour/Ait ouaouzguit, thus not having the best smith .

The one you have tried on your head is waaaaaay more intricate and precious

  • Love the coin and shell bracelets too think I may be going on a mission to find one of those!!
  • Oh no Sarah, those are not her hands.

this is actually a ahir drass and jewelled ornament with coins and shells ar braid finials

You really should buy a french book called "coiffures feminines du maroc" or female hairdresses of morocco from  Mireille morin barde of EDISUD

It is a wealth of pictures of hairdresses from south east morocco

    Available at amazon

  • thanks ayis, I can now see my mistake ...shall look for the book
