I have assumed that this is Afghan but would love to learn more in detail of its` origin.Medallions bear carnelian, glass, shell and script. Not sure about the green stone. Parts are gold washed. The asyk pendant has been thought enough of to be repaired but obviously needs more.

  • Thanks so much, Waqar, I was hoping you might respond. Great to learn its` origin too, especially the info. about the ram`s head.

    Also I suggested to the seller it might be made up from old components but was told that they did not think so. I could not see that it was made up in any Afghan style I knew. I`m wondering if such pieces might not have been made up to suit western tastes. Twenty years ago it was acquired from someone who had been a British army officer in World War 11. I`m happy to know my suspicions are vindicated!

    Would you hazard a guess as to the age of my components?

  • Frankie, this looks really nice to wear and so good to have the background story. Wish there were more of them... stories, I mean. But I suspect many of them would be unhappy. Not in this case perhaps!

  • Thank you, Thelma. I think at least the last 20 years of this one`s story have been quite happy. Before that I don`t know...... it`s new to me but I know will be a favourite.

    I intend to post a couple of better photos of it soon.
