  • Marie Ange and Patti, I thought you would like to see the pieces worn here as necklaces.

    Sx

  • Fantastic, two necklaces in one picture!! you are spoiling us.

Though the setting is very strange; europeans, urban moroccans, leather pouffs, fine rufs and cedar wood trunks, poshy porcelain and silver tea set and wall hangings very rich interior!!

Berber men seem to be very classy dressed and somehow urbanish style!!

Taseddit necklaces are that of ait seghrouchen, still nothing else remind us of the ait seghrouchen (north of errachidia), at the contrary headreses are more from middle atlas and the fibulas of the first level lady are typical of the eastern middle atlas!

Niello was largely used around taza and the ait seghrouchen territorry but eventually disappeared replaced by silver coins.

The only serious clue would be the "handira" or the woven wool mantle wore by the lady on the right, the designs should be easy to decipher and would help any old rugs and woven fabrics amateur identify the exact tribe.

This is a very strange setting probably meant for a head of tribe "caid" powerful and rich on a visit to FES or Rabat, probably coming from the eastern middle atlas

  • I do like the bold "bildi" henna style!

  • Thanks, Ayis, for the intriguing commentary. I do like a mystery.

Couldn`t have been done if Sarah hadn`t given us the photo. Thanks, Lovely!
