A torque from Swat, Pakistan

A Swat, Pakistan torque. From the Pashtun people. With many Afghan coins from the 1920s-1930s in 50% silver. The body of the torque in similar alloy. With incredible engraving and many symbolic designs. Mid 20th century, over 600 grams.

  • Lynn, a beautiful example of this type of torque. Is this the one you spoke of earlier .. you were mending one, I think. I love the delicate arrangement of the glass stones at the front.

  • Dear Thelma, thank you for your kind comments.  Yes, this is it.  It had been put in "silver dip" by a previous owner and rendered completely devoid of any detailing or depth.  I put the patina back on it and replaced missing stones.
