Your pieces are lovely, but please tell us where they are from and how they are worn.
when I first put these pics. up I found a place where I made a comment beside each pic. Somhow that didn't translate [I must have done it wrong...] The only thing that I know about them is that they supposedly were collected by a friend of my mother's family during tthe time of the Boer War, in S. Africa. They all seem to be the size for being worn around the neck, hence I put in the ruler for comparison. The piece that is of woven grass[?] and a few beads seems to be a headband, as there is no opening and it is too small to fit all the way over my head (which isn't big). I was hoping someone on this site could enlighten me about them, or tell me where else I might send the pictures.
The earrings I got in a second hand shop, a number of years ago.
Kim: It is interesting that they were collected in S. Africa, because they strike me as Basotho. See my pics for more pieces in Morija Museum. I recommend contacting the Morija Museum in Lesotho. The director, Stephen Gill, may be able to assist you. If they are Basotho, and strung on sinew, they are probably rare old pieces. Glass beads would have been trade items brought by Europeans. Good luck!
I should not have said S. Africa. I have S. Africa on the brain, because my daughter is going back there to live...I should have said Africa. Thank you, Edith D., will do as you suggested.
