Mbororo necklace, subgroup of fulani, north niger and mali
Thank you So Very Much ait ouakli. Do you have any thoughts on how old it might be?
This is worn by the Peul People (Fulani) tribes of the Sahel, several countries, like Mali, Niger, etc. especially also by the subgroup of the Wodabe-Bororo (famous for their traditional Gerewol dancing, where they paint their faces (the men). Look at the book Africa adorned by Angela Fisher.
These are the People wearing such. They are called Peul (French) or Fulani (engl) or Fulbe (german), the subgroup Woodabe-Bororo is famous (see Picture). I have not found a Picture of exactly this necklace worn, but Ihave seen many.
Eva Baby thank you so very much. I will look at the Angela Fisher book. I'm so excited to be learning about this.
