This is very attractive and interesting, Cecilia. What are the dimensions? Do you know what it was used for originally?
Hi Thelma. Diameter 4.5 cm, height ca 8 cm. I have bought it from an Afghan dealer but he had no information about it. It seems rather old and there is some repair work done from the inside on the top part. I would love to know more about it.
It's a bit of a puzzle. Could it be the end of a tassel? Part of a hair ornament? It certainly looks old.
Hello again, Cecilia. This could be the base of an ear-ring. Have a look at similar shapes on www.cosecosigioelli.com.
Yes Thelma, the shape is similar but I think this one might by to heavy. I have found another clue in one of my reference books and it might be part of a breast decoration. But it could just as well have been part of some sort of decorative tassel.
