All of the pieces which will be shown on Sunday were collected 50+ years ago in Saudi Arabia.
The Bedouin people are traditionally nomadic and travel in many countries, and there is a relationship between styles and types of jewellery design in all of those places.
The pieces offered may have travelled through any of the countries which are seasonal homes to the Bedouins.
The women of the village of Abha in the fertile Asir Mountains of south-western Saudi Arabia, near Asir National Park and toe border with Yemen, became friends with the creator of this collection, and were the source of most of these items over many years. Abha is situated 2,270 metres (7,450 feet) above sea level and Abha's mild climate makes it a popular tourist destination for Saudis, this has led to the Nomadic people leaving the area, so this small slice of history is uniquely recorded in this collection.
We are proud to be able to share it with you all exclusively at The Virtual Souk this week.
