Late 19th/early 20th c. photo by noted photographer Albert. I thought the manner the seated lady is wearing her necklaces worth note. She is wearing the rihanna chain as a bandolier, and just visible under it appears to also be a skhab worn in the same manner.

Thanks Ayis and Ait. Ayis, have you seen the rihanna worn across the shoulder like this before? I have seen lots of ladies in Tunisia wearing rihanna, and I knew the skhab was traditionally worn across the shoulder, but first time I had seen rihanna worn in this manner.

I guess this has something to do with the lady being jew.....jews in north africa and i guess elsewhere patronized some pecularities in the way they adorn themselves ...most probably willingly and sometimes forced as to distinguish them from muslims
