  • By the way, Eilat stones are supposedly from the same mines once owned by Solomon.  The mines contained vast quantities of copper, and were the ancient King's source of wealth and political power.  The Eilat stones derive their distinctive color from various copper oxides.  They are a mixture of turquoise, malachite and azurite.
