  • hello, this is a very special kitab, very very rare, its age is borne out by the work that has gone into it, it would be interesting to know what the makeup of the metals are within it, would you mind to PM me with the price if it is for sale? thanks a lot, regards, zhanna

  • An very interesting piece indeed; very "steampunk" if I may say so (no insult intended at all): I am no expert at all when it comes to Tuareg and related pieces, but it's interesting to see Mauritanian influences hear - or am I imaging this?

  • Hello Betty, I would say that it is line ball as to whether the colour comes from a Mauritanian influence or not, which way or other would decide the age of the piece as the two tribal groupings only mixed in more recent years, but you have a very valid point, kindest regards, also the make up of the metals is important, kindest regards, zhanna
  • Thank you so much Zhanna, it came from a private French collection.  The man said he purchased it himself in Timbuktu, he also said it was the only one like it that he had in his collection so was really please to have found it.  best wishes, Ursula

  • hi Ursula, so the facts bear it out, it is indeed a very special piece, considerably rare, best wishes, zhanna
