  • Very interesting. I've only recently come to know about these pieces from Timor. I understand they are used for dancing... Is there any significance in the fact that the two figures are facing in opposite directions?

  • Good question, but I'm afraid I don't know the answer. My understanding is that these are also used by men, and the design strikes me as masculine. These bracelets appear in a number of publications including "Ethnic Jewelry from Indonesia" by Carpenter.
