  • In what kind of necklaces were these beads used? I only saw them as lose beads, never used in jewelry.

  • These beads are from Essaouira, I recently saw them in a wonderful treasure necklace so they are used in Moroccan necklaces.

  • I have always associated these beads with S. Morocco. To me their style speaks more of an Atta or Tata stylistic origin rather than the more decorated incised patterns often associated with Essaouira.

The ones I have are incorporated into a necklace which I see as more southern in style.

But all this is just a gut feeling and, since they are of quite simple design, perhaps they could come from both areas.

  • These beads are generally considered to be Essaourian .
    They are used in necklaces.
I have also seen an image of them used in a linked annular and faux amber piece, i shall try to find the image later .
