South African Purse

This is worn behind a Thembu woman's skirt. It is hand made by the women. This one was made in the 1950s and is decorated with bells, metal rivets and plastic bicycle reflectors.

  • Thanks for reminding me by posting this, I had seen a whole collection recently coming out and they were very nice. All a bit older maybe then this but were really interesting pieces. I will have to re investigate them.
