This is worn behind a Thembu woman's skirt. It is hand made by the women. This one was made in the 1950s and is decorated with bells, metal rivets and plastic bicycle reflectors.

    Thanks for reminding me by posting this, I had seen a whole collection recently coming out and they were very nice. All a bit older maybe then this but were really interesting pieces. I will have to re investigate them.

    Thanks Linda! Would love to see other things from this region. I think these attract me because of the DIY quality...the use of recycled materials is so creative!
