  • Hi Ahmad,

I still have two in my collection.  I have not listed them for sale, because we have not yet decided whether we should sell them.

    Thanks for asking.

  • Hi Anna, - Is this one correctly to be seen as consisting of silver covered either with gold (yellow) or niello (black)? I feel uncertain, and am interested in posting this one along with the other one (which is already up on the "Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment" page on Facebook, and being admired there). I think this one is in its own way just as good, by the way!

  • Joost -  In real life, this piece appears to have simply developed a dark patina on the fine filigree.  I notice that attribute in quite a lot of the fine filigree on my Yemen pieces.  It could be that it once had a gold wash and that the fine wire was affected by the chemical that was used to apply the gold wash.  The Yemeni gold washes are just that, a kind of dipping into a solution whose chemical ingredients I do not know.  I believe niello would have been applied to the flat surfaces on the piece, not on the wires.  Against this very white background, this necklace appears darker than it shows in real life, at least to me.  You are very welcome to post it on your site.  Thanks!
