Silver tepelik. Bursa / Turkey. Late-Ottoman.

Silver ‘tepelik’ (metal cover of a woman’s hat) with embossed decor, and late-Ottoman silver coins (ca.1800). The 'tepelik' dates from the early 19th century. From the Bursa region. (Inv.n° müç011-Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).

  • 2506037918?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024An almost identical early-19th century 'tepelik', with a similar design and the same kind of coins.  The glass stone is red (the other was blue).  Both were purchased in Bursa. (Inv.n° müç038-Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
