Silver choker necklace. Called 'gerdanlık' or 'kıstı'. Late-Ottoman, from Western or Central Anatolia, 19th century. With 30 plaques decorated with a 'head of dragon' at the sides. These plaques are affixed to a brown tissue; each plaque has a composite dangle (silver plaque + coral bead) hanging from it. The necklace is fastened by a silver chain with rosette motifs. Length (with chain): 41 cm. (Ankara Ethnographic Museum).
