Rural Shawl and Houlie cloth

The wool shawl (from the south of Tunisia) is worn over the head with the tassles framing the forehead. The houlie cloth behind the shawl is a modern weaving used in the traditional manner as an over garment. It is fastened at the shoulders using "khlal" fibulae.

  • Thanks, this is a fairly simple shawl.  Some of them have much more elaborate needle point designs.
