  • I have never seen a magic squares style pendant with the same symbol repeated over and over again. Only one of these is slightly different from the others. A mystery.
  • This symbol actually says "Mohamed", the Prophet of Islam.

  • Hi Toya, Yes, it is Arabic.  As representations of people and animals (animate objects) were frowned upon in Islamic art, calligraphy flourished.  This is a more stylized version of the name.  The way it is used here would have provided the artist with minimal problems as the circle on the right of the name would have been the most difficult to produce.  The other lines are all straight.  It looks like they were stamped/ chiseled on individually.
