Old Biskri Cloth

Woven by a Jewish weaver in Djerba, probably between 1920 and 1950. This type of cloth is worn by a bride as a shawl and head covering.

  • Nice tissue. Do you know, that I bought a carpet in Djerba, which was then sent to Zurich, it arrived in perfect condition and I had it very long, but at last after many years, I had to throw it away, because it got too worn and dirty after many years surviving my cats and small children......... I had loved it very much (it was in natural colours, like beige and brown and black).

  • Beautiful.  Is this woven and embroidered,during the weaving, Looks a very time consuming and counting piece so done with great care.  I love the color brought together, so warm and deep.
