Not an old affair here.
Indeed very common in jewelry whops in Morocco but seem that thay are made for the tourist market and are not complying with any of the traditionnal shapes used in the country
I don't believe that North Africans use torque shapes as neck embellishment, they are more used further east as in Pakistan, Afghanistan and further east yet, like Thailand.
Thanks Ayis and Patty! I thought this may be a new piece from somewhere in the Middle East but Asia never crossed my mind, I must admit. The necklace is not completely rigid but has loose/flexible joints in 4 places, by some of those round dome like bits.
i will say thailand
This is 100% Moroccan, made in Tiznit for the foreign market. The sections are actually hinged, so it iss not a true torque or half torque.
i have seen many jewelry pieces from morocco in this kind, they are not all originaly from morocco and they are not authentic, yes as you say, for foreign market and tourists. there is lot of bangles in the same kind too
Yes definately Moroccan, and soussi...see the beads set as cabachons...Tiznit all the way!
