Silver, wood, turquoise, NepalDescriptionThis type of mask comes from tribal societies of Nepal and has existed for centuries in Magar, Gurung, Tamang, Rai and Limbu's to name only the best known ... they are related to Shamanism ((symbolic system mediation between human beings and the spirits of the supernatural) ... these mouths are faces of ancestors, mythical characters, demons, clowns or any representation of human emotions...the strongest and most tangibles.In 2003 Marc Petit, collector, donated magnificent masks very close to those at the Musée du Quai Branly and there was an exceptional exhibition dedicated to these masks in 2010 and 2011 entitled "Dans le blanc des yeux" ...This mask dates from the sixties ( typical additional work in silver and turquoise) ...Weight:1,086kgHeight:11,02inchWidth:6,69inchwww.halter-ethnic.com see "My Finds"
