  • Love this too, especially the old drops, Is it old? Shape of the pendant is unusual and that deep blue color dominating the pendant is very fine! Old or new,it is a beauty.
  • This is Soussi workmanship, from The Tarroudant region replicating Tiznit silverwork which in turn is heavily influenced by Kabyle pieces.

I would guess 25 years old max for the disc ( The beads are halved prosser beads, this bead usage was followed by berber made resin/clay around 10- 15 years ago.)

Nice colours ...pieces now are enamelled using crushed chinese seed beads! the dyes in these seem to get muddy sometines when reheated leading to a deep purple enamel.......I shall post a separate pic.

  • Thank you, Sarah, for the detailed information. The origins of this piece have always puzzled me because of the resemblance to Kabyle design. I have owned it for 20 years and now the mystery is solved. I always wondered if it originally had real coral cabochons which were later replaced by the glass.
  • Sarah's description seems very good to me. I rather like the piece - it's artistic, and "honest". Not everything needs to be old, but I like "integrity", and this piece has that, as well as good taste.
  • Thank you, Joost.
