It is funny how some of the photos of my own things were not well photographed because I was not selling them and never had the time to really document them, however when I first posted them several years ago and look at those photos, the pieces look flat , loose their value and look so different. I'm used to bad photos when I look at things for sale, but it really can make a huge difference when one is not familiar with piece or if one really needs to see detail and or the quality of the silver or work etc. Most of my better pieces had horrible photos. I also re did many inventory pieces as well , and it makes a huge difference.. The flash really flattens and washes out details. I have gotten lazy to do a proper shutter exposure recently like the old days. So to eliminate the time it takes to do a proper set up, I have opted for a natural light situation which is much better.. I happy I decided to re shoot these since it shows them more accurately. I wear this so much , I'm not sure why I gravitate to it but i think the lines of it on ,as it is long and it goes with so many cloths I have are one of the reasons I like to use it. Favorite usually means for me , one I use or wear allot and not so much to do with quality. But in this case I have not come across another one so much like it so it is also seldom seen and I enjoy owning it for that reason. it was a lucky find from a dealer friend of mine back from a trip in Khirghstan. She just happen to find this one and only one and I was first to grab it at a show many many moons ago. I knew what it was only because of the books i had been buying and had recognize the work. I would have purchased it being from any where since I liked it but it's good to have references I think. The fact that the carnelian are see through to me is such an interesting idea.. I'm wondering why other cultures especially in Central Asia have not attempted this.
I also should show the close up of all round disks on the hanging section because they are not without pattern. Those patterns are etched in and are very very interesting. Also the back of the necklace is different then the front. I should actually photograph the reverse.

Good to see you re-take photos - well worth doing! And yes, they should certainly be done with natural light, unless you operate in studio conditions or build up a so-called "light tent", which is very tricky and time-consuming to do. You are very much on the right track, and we all owe you a great debt for doing the work as well as having kept the pieces!!
I think you are very right to keep it. It is interesting, has "depth", is aesthetically good, and is early as well. Would surely be very difficult to replace.
I find this group of necklaces very pleasing. I have a few others that I will take photos of but are more fragile and don't use them. But since they are not coming easily I hesitate to replace them since I can not find them easily. Odd Kazakh are similarly set up and probably share a border with this group.
