Javanese Beads

All of these are recently manufactured in the eastern part of Java. As you can see, they imitate old designs quite successfully. African, Venetian, Middle Eastern and Asian glass bead designs are expertly reproduced by Javanese glass artists. Unfortunately, these same artists are also expert at counterfeiting antique beads and it is very difficult to distinguish them from the truly ancient varieties.
