Iranian or Iraqi Kurdish Amulet Necklace

An old Kurdish necklace from southern Kurdistan, Iran or Iraq. This necklace has many amulets: the central tube, two heavy triangles worked on all sides in filigree, and round containers that open and shut to hold perfumed material. It is all connected with a heavy ornate chain which shows its age in the many links which are almost worn through. This necklace is part of a small collection of Iranian or Iraqi Kurdish ornaments that I found, including head ornaments and a pair of bracelets. I have posted the forehead ornament and I will clean and post the rest soon. Detailed photos in the comments.

  • This is gorgeous and so well presented. I particularly like the simple, undecorated hirz. Am looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection!

  • A beauty Lynn! Congratulations. This is a unique piece! Peter
