Headgear with late-Ottoman coins – with ‘bürgü’. Konya / Turkey.

Late-Ottoman festive headgear adorned with silver coins, covered by a silk “Bağdad bürgüsü” (‘bürgü’, or ‘ferace’, which is a kind of large baggy cloak used for outdoors). This one is made of silk brocade, with tiny golden stars woven into the fabric. Urban dress, Konya, late 19th century. (Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).

I agree with Peter, I love the little dangles. I am going to have to finish cleaning my versions of the dangled and draped head pieces so I can get your thoughts on where they are from.
