Festive costume – Izmit / Turkey.

Traditional festive costume from the Izmit district (central district of the Kocaeli province). Late-Ottoman urban style, ca. 1925. The silk ‘entari’ (robe) is adorned with gold thread embroidery and metal sequins. (Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
