    The second oneis maroccan

  • this is really interesting, as I read one of her biographies (or two) in which it said, she only wore South American indigenous jewellery, preferably Mexican. But this really is not Mexican, this surprises me.

  • Stunning pictures, ne is more familiar with Frida wearinf TAxco and other mexican pieces!!

  • There are at least four or five photos of her wearing these bracelets including while painting and in the hospital, so they must have been favorites of hers.

  • How wonderful to see this photo of Frida!

  • Frida Kahlo had an affair with Josephine Baker who was a resident of Marrakech...so maybe the link is there somewhere.

I often stay on tour in Riad Star  which was Josephines former home ..

the Moroccan bracelet is from Tafroute in the Anti Atlas region...although many wonderful pieces were made there in the past, nothing remains in terms of production or of jewels in the town.

  • Fab post. I'm just reading Josephine Bakers bio!

  • Wow Marie, I think you have it almost exactly.  Lovely bracelet,  I was not aware of them until I saw the photo.
